When is Celebrity Gossip Too Much??

The fact is as a society we love gossip, in particlar celebrity gossip. We love it, but there's a right way for stars to talk about their lives and a wrong way to do it.
We want to know how events in their life have shaped the lyrics for a musician or how life experiences have shaped an actresses role.
What we don't enjoy is celebs revealing too much detail of their private lives and doing it for no reason other than the massive exposure they will recieve to keep them in the headlines or the fee they will recieve for this exposure to otherwise very personal periods of their lives.

Here are some examples of the lengths 'celebreties' will go to to ensure headlines

Lauren Goodger's abortion
The Only Way Is Essex star did her first interview since she broke up with Mark Wright recently; she's on the cover of OK magazine with the headline 'I aborted Mike's baby'. In the magazine, Lauren exclusively reveals she had a termination five years ago because their relationship was too volatile. She said: "I've been pregnant before with his baby but I chose not to have it. I was only 20. No one knows except my close family."
Her ex was obviously hacked off and tweeted: "After all those years. Disgraceful if u ask me. What money does for some people."

Chantelle Houghton's IVF
Chantelle treats OK magazine like a confidante, a friend, albeit one that likes to publish her stories. In the last 12 months, she has been on the cover to reveal how Preston was the love of her life, then her love for Rav Wilding, then her heartbreak when Rav dumped her, then her love for Alex Reid, then her eating disorder and fertility problems, then her and Alex's desire for babies, and now their IVF 'battle'...when they've been together for only five months.
"I've had lots of scans and horrible, painful things done to me," Chantelle winced, while Alex declared that "everything feels so right" and said that he was relieved that Katie, who was also doing IVF when they were together, never got pregnant.

Katie Price's miscarriage
Katie Price lost a baby just before Peter Andre left and she revealed all shortly after the split, during a tell-all interview with Piers Morgan when she was trying to drum up support. She told Piers: "I'm trying to keep myself together, not to cry. I just wanted to say to people, 'Just leave me alone, I've just lost a baby, I'm bleeding, I'm trying to run [the marathon], I'm trying my best'. But I can't say it because, you know, it's private." Er, not anymore, Katie!

Lindsay Lohan's family drama
The way Lindsay Lohan argues with her estranged dad Michael via interviews or on Twitter is embarrassing and uncomfortable to witness. She's called him a public embarrassment and a bully among other worse things. Michael's just as bad; he thought it was wise to publicly announce that Lindsay was a self-harmer and that he thought his ex-wife was a bad mother, all in exclusive interviews, naturally.
Then someone posted on his Twitter page that Lindsay was HIV positive and he claimed that his account had been hacked but she wasn't so sure, saying, "He's a grown man and has done the exact same things on TV/interviews, [so] why wouldn't he lie on Twitter, and everywhere else!"
Lindsay Lohan, David and Courteney Cox Arquette(PA)
Both Lindsay and David are guilty of oversharing
David Arquette's sex secrets
Courteney Cox and David Arquette were a pretty solid couple by celebrity standards so their split last June was sad, but they released a statement saying that they had great respect for each other.
But the very next day, David proved otherwise when he thought it was a good idea to go on a radio show and announce that they hadn't had sex in four months but that he'd slept with someone else, a 28-year-old barmaid, who he called his "one conquest." He also very nicely revealed that sex with his wife had been "scheduled" and that she got sick and tired of him acting like a child.

Can it ever be a good thing?
Is there a positive side to all these celebrity revelations? Perhaps. If they inspire people who have had similar experiences to cope with them, to move on and to be happier then there could, at least, be a higher purpose to all this intimate detail. Alas, in some instances it's more about mud-slinging than inspiring.
So, celebs, remember: we love reading about you but less really is more, OK?
