Would You Wear A Black Dress on Your Wedding Day?

We’ll admit that Bridal Fashion Week is not quite as on our radar as the ready-to-wear fashion weeks. Not that we don’t appreciate a gorgeous wedding gown and the talent that goes into each one, but when you’ve seen one white ball gown…

That being said, when a bridal designer does something out of the ordinary–especially when that designer is VERA WANG, whose name cannot be mentioned without conjuring up images of gorgeous ivory gowns and the celebrities who have worn them–we take notice. Yesterday in New York, Vera Wang showed her Fall 2012 bridal collection, which included seven black gowns.

Apparently the theme for the show was “Witchcraft” and the dresses look unmistakably witchy and moody, but also so gorgeous. With messy hair and bare faces, the look was simultaneously zombie-like and romantic. We’d never considered black for our big day, but after seeing these beauties, we just might

To match the black wedding dress why not try sexy underwear to match. It is both lacey and fitted to give you the perfect shape.

Celebrity Supermums

There are still months to go before Beyonce gives birth to Bub-Z, but she's already declared that she won't be taking ANY maternity leave, saying, "It is important that I don't look at this as like an illness. I am not sick." We hear you, Bey, but the point of maternity leave is so you can spend precious hours with your newborn baby and catch up on much needed sleep!

Beyonce(PA)
Beyonce has said she won't take maternity leave

Beyonce also said that she is sure she'll have enough energy to care for her baby and continue working. "When you are excited about something, you don't have to think about your energy," she told Associated Press. "It is natural and comes from adrenaline." Is she just being naïve, or is Beyonce part of a new breed of supermum celebrities?

January Jones was back on set of Mad Men less than a month after giving birth to her son. And it's not like it's a show where she could put on medical scrubs or hide behind a counter; her character Betty Draper always looks polished and perfectly tailored. The actress's baby, Xander, was born on 13 September, just over a month ago. We're exhausted just thinking about those long hours on set...

Miranda Kerr felt the urge to go back to work just eight weeks after her baby was born. The supermodel was on the catwalk during Paris Fashion Week in March when Flynn, her son with Orlando Bloom, was two months old. But at least she got to wear a dress... just one month later, she was back modelling bikinis (with no post-baby bulge to be seen) at a photo shoot in Malibu. And since then she's posed naked for Harper's Bazaar magazine and the editor of the mag revealed in the issue that the model mum was still breastfeeding during the photo shoot.

Left; Heidi Klum, Right; Jennifer Lopez(PA)
Heidi Klum (left) and Jennifer Lopez (right) are celebrity supermums!

Jennifer Lopez ran a triathlon just seven months after having her twins, Max and Emme. She said her motivation was to make her babies proud of her, adding that she felt like a "beached whale" while she was pregnant. Jen said, "I made the decision when I was eight months pregnant to do the triathlon after I had the babies. I wanted to know I was the same person as before I had them. I wanted to be that person more than ever for my babies. I wanted them to be proud of me." We're pretty sure the twins were too deep in milk comas to notice their over-achieving mom had been running, swimming and cycling for the last two hours, 23 minutes and 38 seconds.

Everything Heidi Klum does is super... first she was a supermodel and now she's a supermum. With four children, she's still one of the world's hottest women and one of Victoria Secret's famous underwear models. She was back on the runway for Victoria Secret, in skimpies, two months after her son Henry was born and she went one better a couple of years later and was back on the catwalk just one month after her fourth child, Lou, arrived.

Victoria Beckham(Rex)

Victoria Beckham had her daughter, Harper Seven, in July but even after four babies have stretched Posh's slim frame to the max, she still managed to bounce back to a rumoured size zero a few months after the birth. She was also straight back to work and unveilled a range of clothes at New York fashion week recently and coordinated her baby's outfit with her own 7-inch Christian Louboutin heels on a shopping trip.
Last year, Dannii Minogue was back mentoring her acts on X Factor and appearing on the live shows week after week when her son Ethan was just a few months old. Aside from the time the show took up, it was also very stressful for the new mum as she had to face the barrage of negative press about her outfits, her standoffish relationship with Cheryl and her squabbles with Simon and Louis.
Phew! We need a rest after thinking how hard these celebrity supermums work. But we suspect that they all have dozens of minions waiting in the wings, doing the midnight feeds and the dirty nappy changes so that the new mums can concentrate on getting spray tans and getting their roots touched up so they look back to their best as they head out to work.

Let's face it - if we had a multi-million pound fortune and could afford pay for a full-time nanny for our kids, we'd consider it money well spent. Now, we're off for that lie-down...

Katie Price Goes To Oxford

Today history was made when one of the world’s finest academic institutions welcomed one of the most astute intellectual minds of a generation. Yes, today Oxford University welcomed Katie Price.

Katie was in town not to promote a book for once, but to talk to the boffin students about important issues.

However, things did not go as planned and Katie decided after eight minutes that she had had enough of the
intellectual banter, despite being booked for an hour slot.

However, she did find time to chat up a 21 year old student. Yep, The Pricey who is recently single was heard chatting up a definitely-very-clever-considering-entry-requirements Classics student. The cheeky chap asked Kate who was her best lover, to which she snapped back: "It could be you" before adding "I'm a MILF, I'll eat you alive". Nice, bet they always chat like that at Oxford Debating Society. At least before dissecting and analysing the metaphors.

Sounds like she may have been a bit out of her depth...

The New Jodie Marsh. Beauty or Freak?

The first word that springs to our minds upon seeing Jodie Marsh's new bodybuilder physique is 'wow'. Definitely, wow. The former glamour model has turned bodybuilder for her latest venture, a TV documentary on DMAX (aptly titled Jodie Marsh: Bodybuilder) and last month her appearance at the National Physique Association and Pro-Am Bodybuilding Championships shocked us all - this was not the Jodie we were used to seeing.

Her appearance was so shocking, she became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter on the day the pictures were released of her painted a deep brown colour and posing at the championships.

"It is not attention seeking," she added. "I feel proud when I look in the mirror," she said. "I still can't believe it's my body. Like, when I look at my abs, I'm just like, f****** hell, I love it so much! I'm the prettiest I've ever looked. "It has totally changed my life, doing this. My self-esteem is higher, my confidence is higher, I feel more secure, feel powerful - I almost feel invincible. I do feel a bit like Superwoman." "I'm the prettiest I've ever looked."

And before....

We asked 100 people on the street whether they prefered her as a bodybuilder or a glamour model. A resounding 88% prefered her as a glamour model. She shows off her natural feminine curves and looks healthy and happy.

So from the girls at lingerie for girls we also say 'Jodie, lose the protein and fake tan'

When is Celebrity Gossip Too Much??

The fact is as a society we love gossip, in particlar celebrity gossip. We love it, but there's a right way for stars to talk about their lives and a wrong way to do it.
We want to know how events in their life have shaped the lyrics for a musician or how life experiences have shaped an actresses role.
What we don't enjoy is celebs revealing too much detail of their private lives and doing it for no reason other than the massive exposure they will recieve to keep them in the headlines or the fee they will recieve for this exposure to otherwise very personal periods of their lives.

Here are some examples of the lengths 'celebreties' will go to to ensure headlines

Lauren Goodger's abortion
The Only Way Is Essex star did her first interview since she broke up with Mark Wright recently; she's on the cover of OK magazine with the headline 'I aborted Mike's baby'. In the magazine, Lauren exclusively reveals she had a termination five years ago because their relationship was too volatile. She said: "I've been pregnant before with his baby but I chose not to have it. I was only 20. No one knows except my close family."
Her ex was obviously hacked off and tweeted: "After all those years. Disgraceful if u ask me. What money does for some people."

Chantelle Houghton's IVF
Chantelle treats OK magazine like a confidante, a friend, albeit one that likes to publish her stories. In the last 12 months, she has been on the cover to reveal how Preston was the love of her life, then her love for Rav Wilding, then her heartbreak when Rav dumped her, then her love for Alex Reid, then her eating disorder and fertility problems, then her and Alex's desire for babies, and now their IVF 'battle'...when they've been together for only five months.
"I've had lots of scans and horrible, painful things done to me," Chantelle winced, while Alex declared that "everything feels so right" and said that he was relieved that Katie, who was also doing IVF when they were together, never got pregnant.

Katie Price's miscarriage
Katie Price lost a baby just before Peter Andre left and she revealed all shortly after the split, during a tell-all interview with Piers Morgan when she was trying to drum up support. She told Piers: "I'm trying to keep myself together, not to cry. I just wanted to say to people, 'Just leave me alone, I've just lost a baby, I'm bleeding, I'm trying to run [the marathon], I'm trying my best'. But I can't say it because, you know, it's private." Er, not anymore, Katie!

Lindsay Lohan's family drama
The way Lindsay Lohan argues with her estranged dad Michael via interviews or on Twitter is embarrassing and uncomfortable to witness. She's called him a public embarrassment and a bully among other worse things. Michael's just as bad; he thought it was wise to publicly announce that Lindsay was a self-harmer and that he thought his ex-wife was a bad mother, all in exclusive interviews, naturally.
Then someone posted on his Twitter page that Lindsay was HIV positive and he claimed that his account had been hacked but she wasn't so sure, saying, "He's a grown man and has done the exact same things on TV/interviews, [so] why wouldn't he lie on Twitter, and everywhere else!"
Lindsay Lohan, David and Courteney Cox Arquette(PA)
Both Lindsay and David are guilty of oversharing
David Arquette's sex secrets
Courteney Cox and David Arquette were a pretty solid couple by celebrity standards so their split last June was sad, but they released a statement saying that they had great respect for each other.
But the very next day, David proved otherwise when he thought it was a good idea to go on a radio show and announce that they hadn't had sex in four months but that he'd slept with someone else, a 28-year-old barmaid, who he called his "one conquest." He also very nicely revealed that sex with his wife had been "scheduled" and that she got sick and tired of him acting like a child.

Can it ever be a good thing?
Is there a positive side to all these celebrity revelations? Perhaps. If they inspire people who have had similar experiences to cope with them, to move on and to be happier then there could, at least, be a higher purpose to all this intimate detail. Alas, in some instances it's more about mud-slinging than inspiring.
So, celebs, remember: we love reading about you but less really is more, OK?

LingerieFor Kids?

Recently a French lingerie designer, Sophie Morin, has caused an outrage from parents with a new collection of lingerie for girls between four and twelve and using pre-pubescent girls to model her range. The brand Jours Apres Lunes have the girls reclining on sofas in bras and pants, hair back combed and playing with Jackie O-style sunglasses and pearls.

The Daily Mail said the shots were "inappropriate for publication" as they featured "young girls in poses and styling that seem far too mature for their ages". Many parents are also expressing their outrage 'why cant we let our children be children for at least their childhood?'. In the US, the NY Daily News said the brand had "crossed the line from cute to seriously creepy".

These pictures are a reflection on our society where young children are dressing more mature for their age. Even just a decade ago children were wearing big jumpers with leggings and trainers not caring what they wore or what their peers thought. Now when you walk around girls are wearing t-shirts with 'flirty' emblazoned on the front along with mini skirts and heels. Whose fault is it? Parents for giving into their childrens demands? Society for allowing their role models to be more sexually explicit? or is it just the evolution of society that children are getting more mature?

Some people believe the reaction highlights the cultural gap between Anglo and French attitudes. While American and English journalists scorned the French designer, in France, they were less bothered. From a young age, girls practice being women especially in France. And on the Paris fashion scene there is no shortage of labels selling clothes that allow young girls to match their mothers in sophistication and sexiness. Agnes B, for example, has carried a 'Lolita' range since 1984.

There is no real teenage culture in France, no teenage television shoes, no Hillary Duff. Somehow, one goes straight from childhood to a semblance of adulthood," said Carol Mann, a French sociologist specializing in gender and childhood. "Hence the [portrayal] of the 'femme-enfant' such as Brigitte Bardot or Vanessa Paradis." When pictures of a 10-year-old French model, Thylane Loubry-Blondeau (daughter of French footballer Patrick Blondeau and TV presenter Veronika Loubry), in heavy make-up and gold stilettos recently appeared in Vogue, the response in England and America bordered on hysterical but in France it was a hugely successful campaign.

And as the blog MYFDB remarked: "Who didn’t play with makeup when they were younger"? True but as parents we should know the difference between playing and reality.
