Bras, bras, bras... but which one is for you?

Every woman has one, every woman has had to shop for one, every woman wears one every day. So why are a massive 80% of us currently wearing the wrong size bra? With all those stores offering free bra fitting, why do we still buy the same size we have had since our teens? No wonder it doesn’t quite give us the shape we crave. There are so many different types of bras for every outfit and occasion and yet we still buy the same old style as that is what we know! There is so much choice out there and we should make the most of what the lingerie fashion houses have to offer! This is a guide to some of the main types of bras telling you when to use them but also some of the downfalls!

Strapless bra- what is says on the tin, no straps! Designed to give you the illusion your breasts are up there and a good shape even when it looks like you have no bra on. Beware these bras have to be tight around the back to give the support. If you have big breasts a strapless bra is just not going to be enough to support you and may make you look lower than you are!

The balcony bra- possibly the most sexy, alluring and flattering bra. This bra basically pushes up from the bottom leaving the top on show. This bra gives the illusion of pertness, being much higher up and rounder. However, beware if you have bigger breasts and taking part in any type of activity or bending down they may pop out! Not a great look! These bras are also not great for tops with a plunge neck as you may see the bra.

Push up bra- different to the balcony bra in that this one pushes you up and in to give a fantastic cleavage! Best for plunge neck outfits on nights out. The only problem is don’t overdo the cleavage as you don’t want them to look fake because that defeats what you are trying to achieve!
The sports bra- a must when participating in sport. When playing sport your breasts move around an incredible amount which inevitably stretches the breast tissue and also can cause pain towards the top of your breasts. The tighter and more secure the better so you may want to get a sports bra with a smaller size. Sports bras basically strap you down. So unless you want tight bum but saggy boobs sports bra is well worth the investment! However, wouldn’t recommend being out on the pull in them as they really don’t do anything for your breasts
T-shirt bra- classic bra that every woman must have a couple of in their top draw. These are your everyday bras that cover the whole breast giving shape and support. They usually have thicker straps, white so you can wear them under any colour clothing and have a bigger cup so you don’t fall out of them! However, note that these bras as worn often can look worse for wear pretty as they are worn often and often don’t stay pristine. So make sure these get replaced pretty regularly!
